Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI)Under the chief selector Ajit Agkar, the squad has been unveiled for the upcoming two-match testing series against the West Indies, which began in Ahmedabad on 2 October. Announcement has discussed, mainly on exclusion Karun NairWho recently staged a comeback but failed to cement his location.
Karun Nair made a short -term comeback in Team India
Nair, who returned to the Indian Test setup after years on the sideline, was depicted in four matches during the England series. He batted in various positions including number 3 and number 6, but struggled for stability. His return was with an average of 205 runs in 25.62, with a single century in an oval test, which India won to achieve the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.
The selectors hoped that Nair stepped into India’s infection after the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, but their performance was considered insufficient. Their lapse emphasizes immediate effect instead of the selectors’ prolonged opportunities, especially in the current competitive environment.

Addressing the media in Dubai, Agkar provided a clear explanation for the decision to leave Nair.
“Clearly, we had a little more hope from Karun. He has played four Tests and we are just talking about an innings. This is this way. Devdutt Padikkal provides a little more at this point. I wish we can give 15 or 20 tests to all, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work in that way,” Agarkar said.
